Our Only Certainty In Life Poem by Francis Duggan

Our Only Certainty In Life

Rating: 5.0

Our only certainty in life is one day we must die
And immortality for anyone whilst as such not a lie
When people speak in such a way they mean one name will live on
Long after many others are forgotten and gone

To that quiet place where forever the deceased people lay
Though 'tis not how you die but how you live some have been known to say
Not how you die but how you live with that few would disagree
Such thinking makes a lot of sense and does seem right to me.

You may be as poor as a church mouse and know of poverty
But to others you are always kind and you live honestly
Then your's is a successful life you will not die in shame
Though forgotten in death and in life one without power or fame.

Our only certainty in life is to our life there is an end
And the reaper who so many fear to egalatarianism is a friend
And though the fame of some may live for centuries from the World's north to southern shore
Only Mother Nature herself will live forever more.
