Out From The Dark Poem by Timothy Ko.

Out From The Dark

I opened my eyes. I gave it a blink.
My sight was blank. My heart did sink.
Darkness around, engulfed in it.
Wanted a light, a candle lit.
Stretched out far, as far as I could
Nothing to grasp, my body shook.
Filled with fear, I screamed out loud.
No one there to hear my shout.
Hope had left, and alone I stayed.
Emptied now, I quietly prayed.
God, please tell me, what comes next?
A sting at heart, straight to the chest.
A light afar, burned, brightly shone.
Paused a while, at answer thrown.
Solution at hand but couldn't move.
Eyes on the exit with terrible news.
I longed to reach, curious the light.
Possible an opening, it may be tight.
Hope returned and my heart jumped.
Yearning to leave with no solution
Burning with rage, ready for an objection.
Why do you tease with hope at hand?
Thoughts spiralled but couldn't understand.
Frustration filled, I was ready to explode.
Then I gave in, let down my load.
At peace and relaxed, I waited with patience.
No more fighting, no more resistance
Then I started moving toward the light.
If a body I had, my lips I did bite.
Joyous to be finally start going somewhere
Unsure the place nor what to find there.
Didn't matter then because I was moving.
But not my control, someone else was pulling.
With a bright flash I found myself blinded.
Then sight returned, left me dumbfounded.
Couldn't move, to the ground I was tied.
Tears rolled out, didn't realize I cried.
Then I ask myself the same question
Why this challenge after redemption?
What was it that you want from me?
No answers came nor could I see.
Slowly then movement was allowed.
Relief all over, hope was found.
Soon to me my body returned.
I sat up and around I turned.
To an unfamiliar place I was dropped.
Needed to adjust with everything to interrupt.
While confusion took over me whole
I unconsciously had something to hold.
An envelope at hand with a letter inside
Curiosity filled, flooding all thoughts aside.
Reading the words, I was breathless and weak.
It read, 'The answers you sought are for you to seek.'
