Out In The Field Poem by Solomon Ayomide

Out In The Field

I was out in the field today
Where I saw what struggle looks like
Enduring the bite of the looming sun
Where I truly understand
What it means to gather the hay
While I take in the blinding breeze
The harmattan sending cold down my spine
But I just have to strive along
For its my first day out in the field.

Now it is getting noon
All works are left undone
The success of work done delights me
As I watch him striving
Yes, my Dad striving
As he kept on in the field
Neither relenting nor giving in
While I beg inwardly
To be out from the working field.
