Out Of Law Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

Out Of Law

'What's the disease he is suffering from?
Tell me clearly', the doctor wants to confirm.

'His body is failing to fight against disease- the disease of shame.
He is getting punishment as he puts on himself this very blame'.

'How, make it clear!
I am extremely eager to hear'.

'He left his wife for the maid.
He got the butter but lost the bread'.

'What's his wife doing now?
She has to survive somehow'.

'I am taking her charge.
She has to survive, her sole urge'.

'A simple jaundice I thought the case to be.
Now it seems to be chronic hepatitis, I can clearly see'.
