Over The Rainbow Poem by Charles Beaty

Somewhere over the rainbow
further than the eye can see
are people just like all of us
staring back at you and me

I wonder what they're thinking
at our planet that's gone mad
with all that we've been given
which we've turned from good to bad

would they laugh at us or sympathise
at the mess we've built around
all the mayhem man's created
over years our earth’s turned round

Perhaps they shake their heads and cry
for they know we can't survive
as the framework which sustains us all
slowly splinters whilst alive
