Pain Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

Pain

Pain is a constant companion,
A dark heart stoning away my own,
Isolating me from the world,
Leaving me to face it all alone.

I make deals with demons,
Ignoring the warning flags of all,
For I care not for the consequences,
As I watch my life fall.

Grief is a process,
But I care not for its healing balm,
For I am lost in my own darkness,
And I will not be swayed by its calm.

Time does not heal my wounds,
But teaches me how to cope,
With the pain that consumes,
And the demons that fill me with hope.

Trauma is a torture,
That I cannot escape,
And though I try to nurture,
My heart is black as a cape.

My friends abandoning me,
In my time of deepest need,
Is the worst thing they could have done,
And now they must pay for their misdeed.

So I walk this path alone,
With demons by my side,
Ignoring all the warning signs,
And taking my pain in stride.

I know not what the future holds,
Nor do I care to know,
For in this world so cruel and cold,
I am but a mere shadow.

But through the darkness and the pain,
I find a way to cope,
And though my heart may be in vain,
I will not give up hope.

For though my soul may be broken,
And my heart may be cold,
I will keep on walking,
And I will not grow old.

For pain may be my companion,
And darkness may be my heart,
But I will keep on living,
And I will not fall apart.
