Pandemic:The Bright Side Poem by Doug Lane

Pandemic:The Bright Side

It's not
all
bad.

The traffic's
the lightest
it's been
in LA
since the 1984 Olympics

when everybody
got out of town
to avoid
the coming
congestion
which never happened
because everybody
got out of town.

But the rest
is pretty bad.
Even if you're young
and can probably
survive
infection

you'll bring it home
to granny
and kill
her.

Either that
or you simply
stay away
from loved ones,
stay away
from everyone
you know,
for the next
year or so,

or
until such time
as a vaccine
is invented
or there
are no more humans
left
to infect.
