Park Bench 101 Poem by S. R. Lavin

Park Bench 101

Rating: 5.0

Park Bench 101 is a course designed to explain and to cause the student to comprehend that God exists and is an ever-present Being, commencing with the formula: 1 to the minus thirteenth power, that is, .0000000000001 (the chance that “Life” exists) .

For a one-celled life form to spring to life (and here life is defined as 'a self-sustaining organism able to reproduce itself') two hundred separate but absolutely in specific order chemical events must occur. (Also, this does not account for nor explain where the material itself originates from.)

BUT, without the spontaneous 'spark of life' also (mysteriously) present...no 'Life' will arise. Thus, one to the minus thirteenth power expresses the impossibility for life to exist as described above. It can neither be duplicated nor explained, confounding even brilliant astrophysicists paid umpteen thousands of dollars to investigate this phenomenon.

Sitting on the park bench two kinds of birds chirp
as a cool breeze billows against my sweaty forehead.
The aroma of the creek and fruit blossoms wafts in my nostrils.

A robin redbreast searches for worms
(such morsels to them they seek) ...
uninterrupted by cars and thumping tires or droning engines...

OUR FATHER who art in the park,
Holy is your creation.

Your kingdom is a man
able to see You,
talk with You,
grasp Your every desire.

For such a man seeks and finds true peace -
peace deep inside, perfect, pleasant, palpable.

Highly original. Might I ask where you're taking such a class?
