Part Of The Past That'Ll Never Return Poem by Sherri Vogel

Part Of The Past That'Ll Never Return

It had been quite a few years since you went away
And I thought about you that's all I can say
You were a memory that just played a part
In bringing the words right out of my heart.
They were written on paper and I had no doubt
I knew the person I wrote about.
I held him quite high he was special and rare
And no one on earth could ever compare.
All of those years I believed that I knew
What I was feeling was all about you.
When deep down inside I never could tell
Becaue we never knew one another that well.
Life just kept moving and why I don't know
Your memory stayed with me wherever I'd go.
I believed you were someone I'd never forget
I was the luckiest person on earth 'cause we met.
Funny how people play tricks on your mind
The best things in life seem so hard to find.
After years of wondering how you had been
I was certain that I'd never see you again.
But there was a lesson I needed to learn
Life brought you back for a short brief return.
It needed to tell me that you are the past
This is the future going by fast.
There's somebody out there I'm destined to find
If I just move ahead and leave you behind.
You'll always be special in your own little way
I'm glad that I met you what more can I say.
Life is a mystery you live and you learn
You're a part of the past that'll never return.

Thank you Jess for reading my poem. Isn't it sad that people don't realize what they had 'til it's gone. You were wise to move on and find somebody who would treat you with respect. You must be happy in your marriage because you're avoiding the temptation that's coming your way. You must have found a good husband. (Lucky you) !
