Pass It On Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Pass It On

Children are the future we all would agree,
But what exactly are we allowing them to see?
There's violence and fighting everywhere they turn,
What exactly do we want them to learn?

They'll grow up always wanting to fight,
Yet we all know this is not right.
Ethics and morals are things we should teach,
We all need to practice what we preach.

Children have a right to their own opinions,
And shouldn't be used as political minions.
They should know the difference from love and hate,
So they're allowed to decide their own fate.

We've been corrupted by our world around,
Do we want to pass the same values down?
With all the hatred and evil we've brought,
That's what our children will be taught.

We must make a better life for all of them,
Or the future generations we'll all condemn.
True humanity will soon be gone,
Unless we can learn to pass it on.
