Passing by Lonesome waters
By William He
Sudden gusts lean down,
Brooding clouds press the the waves,
Tides remembers something older than sky.
Siren in South China Sea in murk drowned,
The mangroves blaze without sound.
The ark hums lullabies, drifting slow,
The depths close round,
A vanished world once hallowed, found.
How much pure fear can the turtle wrinkled brain contain?
And cold green scalPassing by the Lonesome Waters
es flash ghostly light.
Alone and blur.
Grey quills blending with the indigo of the night.
The bones of human failure tumbled in the shallows,
Often grow nostalgic for that time.
The shattered oars beneath still sway,
Their rage washed far away then.
Creased waves pull tight in wild ballet,
Frizzing sound of bubbles,
While coral splits like opened slur.
Like Ancient pagoda's fall through time's twilight,
In a gaze held still,
Floods rise through palace ditches.
Mermaid's luminous salty tears,
The occasional color in the lapping water even.
Weathering many crossings,
Only the cliffs dream blood again,
The years' refrain,
We are drifting in the endless deep.
