Passing Conversation Poem by Harlan Simantel

Passing Conversation

one of the best
in life
is good talk

may be with a stranger
who suddenly
becomes a friend

on a streetcar, bus
or plane

you connect
and 20 minutes
of honest, open conversation
(not a monologue)
is worth more than 20 years
of superficiality

there was nothing to lose
here now
quickly gone
not forgotten by either

on her way
good day
miss goodheart

we were friends - open
had our honest say
we both feel better
encouraged
kind of God-surged

nice! i really enjoyed this one. the simplicity is endearing. liked the usage of 'god surged'. that is such a perfect way to describe a moment, a conversation, everyday beauty. thanks.
