Passion That Cannot Be Contained Poem by June FeirCruz

Passion That Cannot Be Contained

Rating: 5.0

One of the first things you said to me
'You have passion that cannot be contained'.
Will you accept this gift from me
A passion uncontained and untamed?

Will your heart be open
Of what pleasures I can give you?
Will your mind be open
Of the knowledge I can share?

Will your heart be accepting
And won't pass judgement on me?
Will your heart be broken
When you can no longer have me?

Will you be there when I need you
Even in the middle of the night?
Will you be accepting of my flaws
That are hidden in plain sight?

Can you even possibly love me
When all is said and done?

This is quite an exceptional poem, June, and for several very good reasons. I liked the simplicity it was written in-simple and direct words, many posed as questions. It's an effective technique. I also admired the clever use of repetition in it, for I am a strong beliver in the power of repetition in poetry myself. It begins as a conversation between two apparent lovers, but quickly is dominated by one person who gently asks probing questions and that one last and vital question is left for the reader to decide what the answer was-another example of excellent technique, June. This is really a very lovely and fascinating poem and a lot of people who passed this one by don't know what fools they were! Carl.
