Patience: The Divine Trust Poem by Mohammad Younus

Patience: The Divine Trust

Patience: the divine trust—
Allah is pleased with those who embrace patience.
Patience is not mere stillness,
but a trust in the journey—farsighted,
a knowing that the process holds truth,
a vision beyond what the eye perceives,
like a river carving through stone,
creating valleys where life may flourish.

It is to behold the thorn
and dream of the rose in bloom,
to rest in the night's embrace,
and feel the promise of dawn,
to watch snow descend in silence,
its chill foretelling spring's gentle breath,
as seeds sleep beneath the frost,
awaiting the sun's warm caress.

Impatience is a fleeting glance,
shortsighted, blind to what unfolds,
like a traveler cursing the clouds,
unaware they carry rain for thirsty fields.
But those who love the Divine
become vessels of unyielding patience,
for they understand this:
time shapes the crescent moon
until it blooms into fullness,
its light spilling over the heavens,
a mirror to the divine wisdom of waiting.
