Patriotism - Poem by samyak jain

is the paean
to one mother
in exclusion of all
as though
the others are
children of a lesser mother.

patriotism the
monthly dose
comes with the pay
packet to the soldiers,

packaged well
in fiery speeches
by the politicians,

in lilting songs
by the melodious

is best celebrated
in mob mentality,

more often than not

patriotism is the
jingoist vehicle
to fame and fortune.

prospers in isolation.

the world now being
wired tops to toes,
it is one trick
for the tricksters.
