Patterns Of Despair Poem by Erik Gillette

Patterns Of Despair

A deep void widens in my breast
One that aches at the thought of being less
One that detests the pain of happy thoughts
and longs to avoid the gifts life has brought

Back and forth between joy and pain
Exists this pattern of neverending resistance to Existence
Something that longs for its truth but ignores the rain that drops on his face
Whose only way forward is thru persistence
Regardless of the wounds that it incurs

Maybe one day this pattern of despair will decay into something I can repair
