Peaceful, Persistent, Powerful Poem by Shalyn Stachmus

Peaceful, Persistent, Powerful

How is forever? Is forever for you?
Do you know what is ever, is everyone, too?

I'd like to see behind the bloodstained stage,
and dare a stare in a crowd of black eyes.
I'd implore you grisly devils by name, and
boldy and coldly, I'd return all your lies.

You must've known this time would come.
You knew that you would die.
We'll drag you all down the streets,
stake and burn you to unanswered cries.

I'd cut off your heads and tell everyone.
Tell the whole world what's been said and done.
I'd slice out your tongues for liars to heed:
A sad tale of evil, lies, hate, and sick greed.

You brought this on yourselves, you know.
Graciously concede to us these gifts;
Your cult is now the sacrifice, so...
Wrongs are made right and the skies start to lift.

You can't hide for long. You can't drag us down.
You can't fight the dawn. You will lose this round.
When we find you, you will know.
When we find you, you will fold.

How is forever? Is forever for you?
Do you know what is ever, is everything, too?
