Pebble Shores Poem by Harish Mudaliar

Pebble Shores

How swift as a herd of raging bulls?
Surge past the weak bed of sand
Out throws millions at a time
Bend round the scum patched stones
In thousand varieties of style
For the camera man's click

Breaks at the foot of the shallow beach
Splashed high and sprang through the air
On to the lovely couple's face
That thrilled and drew their innocence out
And a few on the wandering crab
Rest on the children at play
With the current they roll in and out
Dragged hard but still safely buoyed
Those grains of sands among the tide
Splits their tender skin so wide

When the sky blooms at twilight
And the sun kissed those still busy waves
With love he gifts his golden glow
Now her beauty more pronounced
Growing silence with the night
And the glittering pebbles sown on the way
Sets the mood so lively and gay
Tempts the romantic heart to stroll the night
Hand in hand on the slipping dunes
That again makes each step ponderous
Melody of the sea more clear with peace
Inspired further by the far away breeze
Their appreciative heart melts
And blends the iodine laced air

Now the whole world rendered in her charm
But still she is restless and stubborn
Like an obsessed lover she stalks the shore
Day and night she breaks harder and harder
From the ages of my father and his great grand
With an unrealized dream and no heart to stop
And no machine the mankind knows
That determines her thirst for quest
