An experience transformed
In word, or image, or song
Becomes deeper, more vivid
Than it ever was in
The ephemeral pass of reality.
It enters the realm of myth
Satyr and Centaur, dragons breathing fire
Maidens locked in towers
Gauntlets on the ground.
In the daunting netherworlds, ascendant heavens
We are the people we imagine
No mortal flaws to stain the dignity
Of our garland reputations.
Clasped in the throes of Death
We need to believe
Things greater than ourselves
Powers we cannot define or disclose
Hope that we are somehow more than
We are.
