Perfect Pair, Too Poem by Denis Martindale

Perfect Pair, Too

The loving lions both looked grand, a testament to love,
A picture most could understand that more than said enough.
Perfection in serenity, perfection for a while,
Perfection in tranquillity as if to make us smile.
And while life has to carry on, from afternoon to night,
Such memories must soon be gone, though now they bring delight.
For life proves sometimes cruel, then kind, as creatures know so well,
With one day blessed in heart and mind until life breaks the spell.

Survey the present neighbourhood as pleasant and reborn,
Then seize the day when life looks good if sunshine greets the dawn.
Look through the eyes of hope and faith, transformed by both of these,
As if each brand-new day to save for each new chance of peace.
The soft breeze blows so calm, once more, as if to melt each frown,
With Nature's wonders to explore before the day winds down.
Before the twinkling of the stars adorns the midnight sky,
Before this brand-new day must pass and then bids its goodbye.

For there's a Lord of night and day, a Lord of moon and sun,
Who sees the stars as they give way once daylight hides each one,
As if their births and deaths to face and when to intertwine,
Each knows their place and times of grace and moments meant to shine.
And each new life that lives for now must serve its time on Earth,
Perhaps to do some good somehow, as if to prove its worth.
The loving lions both looked grand, a testament to love,
A picture most could understand that more than said enough.
