Perfection Poem by Jade Darrow

Perfection

Perfection.
What is perfection? Certainly it is not I. For I am too 'shy', too 'chubby', to be this perfection.
Do we live in a world full of lies? For I do not see this perfection. Is perfection under disguise?
I stand in front of a mirror and hatred fills me. To be perfect was not meant for me.
We see on TV these perfect, beautiful girls. Some are thin. Some with flawless skin.
How can we compete with that? We get called fat because of that.
I see no perfection. For, to be perfect, is to be thin. To have flawless skin. There is no selection.
To many, beauty is on the outside. But what about the inside? What about what's within?
Do people even worry about what's within? Do they worry about true beauty?
The beauty that doesn't make people go 'look at that booty'?
It's time. Time for the 'imperfect' people to take that climb. To shout out and say 'I'm beautifully imperfect.'
That is what makes us perfect. To be able to look in the mirror and be glad at what you see. That is what's meant to be.
I don't care about what people think. This is me. No longer will words make me shrink. This is me.
I'm 'fat'. Fabulous, angelic, talented. That's a fact. I can be imaginative. I can be whatever I want to be. For this is me.
I will stand in front of the mirror and be filled with pride. I am done with the hide.
No longer will I take the insecurities. Goodbye to the immaturities.
Time for me to prove that I'm beautiful. For that is me. Beautiful.
No more do I believe that the world is full of lies. For I see the imperfection. Imperfection was under disguise.
What is imperfection? Certainly it is I. For I am beautifully imperfect.
Imperfection.
