Perhaps Poem by grace mariner

Perhaps

So a week has come and gone with no word.
Did you leave without a goodbye?
Perhaps.
Perhaps the man I thought you were was not you at all.
Did Superman handle Kryptonite?
Perhaps.
Did Samson meet Delilah and fall to ruin?
Perhaps.
Is my damaged giant reduced to a coward by the raw emotion of the word?
Perhaps.
I suspect I've been packed away in one of those boxes of regret that you are so fond of.
You believe they are only available to you if you choose to look at them.
Perhaps.
But I think you are wrong my cowardly friend.
Perhaps you should prepare yourself for those demons that will someday haunt you.
Perhaps you should get ready for the sirens screams that will distort your internal dialog...
your efforts to rationalize your cruelty.
Oh what a brilliant actor you have been to this captive audience!
Your shot was true and hit its mark with absolute precision!
Well done sir!
Your prey has fallen to her knees but she will stand again.
This time, it may be you who wont rise up because of all that baggage you carry.
Just perhaps.
