Perhaps I Feel Embittered Poem by Francis Duggan

Perhaps I Feel Embittered

The top of my head bald my sideburns are gray
And tis plain for to see i am past my best day
And of what you speak of me with me is okay
As long as it is true of me what you do say
Dismissed as a penner of inferior rhyme
And many years now beyond my penning prime
But i am not worried if my best days are gone
Or if I'm a poetaster i just keep penning on,
I once had my dreams of success and renown
But i left them in the old fields by far Millstreet Town
I know I'm not perfect so i won't cast the stone
And i am not in a position to condemn or condone
Though condemn and condone i do just the same
Perhaps i feel embittered for my lack of fame.
