Perhaps The Heart Of Day Poem by David Whalen

Perhaps The Heart Of Day

Twilight

Twilight...The darkest part of Dusk
Velvet blanket pulled up tight
to sleepy chin of day

Once bright day that's now become a husk
Of It's former sunny self
And now shall sleep the night away

Twilight's neither day or night
It's life is measured in minutes
And It's hue is usually grey

It's mordant hue, it's somber light
It's job is of transition
It's what tucks in...the drowsy day

Twilight's but a tiny part
But It's a tiny part we trust
And if the day had a heart

T'would be twilight
The darkest time
...Of dusk...
