Perils Of Beauty Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Perils Of Beauty

When I see your gorgeous beauty
I compare it to a pink sphere
emitting traits of elegance
as you are away now
my perception appears like a steep peak of hill
where the sphere is trying to rest
the process is unstable....
which destroys the peace of mind
mind can't think clearly
and rationality becomes a far cry
is that not the peril of beauty!
But there is a catch.....
your beauty was alluring at that particular instant;
that moment has gone too far
now your beauty might have diminished
and may not match with the past beauty
and as regards my perception of mind
if I can set my mind like a plain surface
where the sphere can rest normally
then it is in stable equilibrium
now my mind can be free
from emotions and obsessions
and the resultant effect
will be a mere appreciation of your beauty
without any hangover.

The poem could be related to the recent demise of the Bollywood Actress Sridevi. This is my view. In my view, the thought of maintaining beauty forever despite the odds can drive you to be body conscious all the time and in the process, medicines, cosmetics, dress codes and lifestyle can eat the very foundations of your life. Appreciation of beauty without any hangover- beauty is no more objective and subjective. Good transformation of perception.

Thank you poet for your analysis.....it is a generalized treatment of beauty...it has got no connection with the sad demise of Sridevi....
