Persistence In The Morning Poem by Edwina Reizer

Persistence In The Morning

I take two steps and fall back one.
And that’s before my day has begun.

I take two more and when that’s done
I feel like I have taken none.

That’s how my mornings usually start.
I feel like the horse that’s behind the cart.

If I can just get a cup of coffee in me
It will make a difference and eventually

I’ll become pretty sound with my feet on the floor
And I’ll make it through like I’ve done before.
