Pesky Pits Poem by John Sensele

Pesky Pits

Hearts grow cold
If feelings too bold
Tear apart covenants built
On love stir up sassy silt

Growing momentum downstream
Where heartbeats no longer cream
They get
If a target

Shifts goalposts
Burning love toasts
Expecting love to grow
When prerequisites throw

Ingredients asunder
When enzymes sneak under
Upsetting the love nest
Where love no longer finds rest.
