'Picture On The Wall' Poem by Nicole Hanes

'Picture On The Wall'

A Picture is worth a thousand words
of whom we cannot know
but the one soul,
who had taken it

It tells you a story
either scary or peaceful,
happy, or sad.

The picture hangs on thy wall
Single nails,
pounded into the wooden boards,
upon the fireplace

A girl
with scrubby cloths,
Dainty look in her eyes
Long stringy hair
Braided down the middle

Darkest hour
Midnight
Feint Background
that tells you
oh, so much
poor
poor
picture
of a little
Broken Hearted Princess.
