Plastic Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Plastic

In a modern world, plastic has the ability to lend
It is a contrived extension of the word pretend
Plastic is man-made… it has molded a revolution
A clever idea… creating a materialistic evolution

First invented, it copied the appearance of ivory
A smooth round shaped cue ball with trajectory
Forms have since been made that are fundamental
Plastic instead of glass… minus the ring of crystal

Plastic wrap clings and creates a hold that’s tight
Plastic can be manipulated into every shape in sight
Sometimes it takes a form that is flexible yet drastic
A small flat card that extends credit… called plastic

The magical card seems to have unlimited flair
With its appearance possessions are bought with air
Ingenuity created a substitute for rational thinking
Buy now… pay later… seizure leaves dreams sinking

The buyer is behind the cue ball looking for an answer
The tight grip of reality is strengthening like a monster
Until grand thoughts vanish from the realm of existence
A false impression of credibility is in need of assistance
