Poem For My Wife Poem by Rory Hudson

Poem For My Wife

Come laugh with me along life’s way,
companion at my side,
walking careless through the world,
not heeding where we bide.

Each night we’ll gladly jump through hoops,
and play the cards we must,
smiling at those who toss us coins,
leaving them in our dust.

The moon will be our friend by night,
the sun our friend by day;
the raindrops dance before our feet
to lead us on our way.

Where you and I may choose to roam
the road is wide and long,
letting us wander at our will
singing our happy song.

‘Twas ever thus, I tell you true,
and thus ‘twill ever be,
in time gone by, in time that is,
in time that’s yet to be -

your life and mine are intertwined,
just as we twine our hands
and clasp each other’s bodies close
in life’s eternal dance.

So join me now along the path,
companion of my life,
to share with me your fortune as
my lover and my wife.
