Poetess Dr. Maya Angelou - The Phenomenal Woman Poem by Dr John Celes

Poetess Dr. Maya Angelou - The Phenomenal Woman

Her childhood did not take off well;
Life gave her trials and much strife;
At times, the world around seemed hell;
Her courage made her firm in life.

She could not change some things she saw;
She therefore changed her attitude;
The people saw her climb in awe;
She used her gifts and aptitude.

She came to know why caged birds sing;
She was like one with clipped a wing;
She could forget what people said,
But could not how she felt, till dead.

God made all human beings well;
His glory all His creatures tell;
A heart prejudiced is not good;
All are poison, even if food.

Bitterness devours the host;
Anger is the emotion worst;
Keep smiling to the one's you love;
Let empathy flow from above.

Truth lies hidden beyond a fact;
Lies underlie many a pact;
You must pray because you are heard;
Keep humane and live by God's Word.

Dedicated to the great soul
Who has gone to be with God.
