Poetry (Why I Often Write It) Poem by Jan E Smith

Poetry (Why I Often Write It)

Words set to a rhythm,
and often to a rhyme
Are windows to my livin'
and moments out of time

A tool to bring me back
from depths so very deep
A way to keep on track
when life's roads gets too steep.

So don't worry when I write,
It's when I don't you should.
My poems help me fight
and focus on what's good.

Though darkness may engulf me
and life seem hard to bare
I find strength in my poetry
and that is why I share.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I often use poetry to keep me sane, well as sane as I will ever be. It helps me take a look at the feelings and step outside of myself. This poem is simply explaining that to other people.
