Poisoned Love Poem by Alfred Ramos

Poisoned Love

She was a woman between love and disaster
I knew in my heart I couldn’t out last her
No matter how hard I tried
No matter how much I cried
I couldn’t read her, couldn’t see what she was thinking
As our love affair was slowly sinking
Only darkness prevailed
And I knew we had failed
She was a woman between the sheets and my dreams
But our love affair fell apart at the seams
No matter the crime
She wouldn’t do the time
I couldn’t make her, couldn’t see through the mask
Where loving became an impenetrable task
I couldn’t adjust
To the lost lust
We wined
We dined
Acted so refined
We danced
We romanced
But no chess pieces advanced
We cried
We lied
Common ground denied
She was a she devil, a woman for the ages
And the turbulence still rages
There was no breaking her
There was no forsaking her
What was her drug
To make her pull the plug
What was her bane
Turning our love arcane
What was our demise
What did we fail to recognize
What recipe did we not follow
Leaving this heart cavity so hollow
How did we mess up our love potion
Ending up at the bottom of the ocean
So now the taste of honey is bittersweet
A bee sting to the heart complete
The nectar of love drips away
Leaving a sticky mess along the way

Sometimes people try too hard or just over kill love.
