Poisoned Serpent, Let Go My Tongue Poem by David Thomas

Poisoned Serpent, Let Go My Tongue

lash out across the land,
burn down buildings strangle children
poison the most important people on the earth
just please let go my tongue,
poisoned serpent
you hold me-
tightly clenched,
a fisted tongue inside a cage of humanity

self destruction has never been so ill-advised,
yet you cling to my tongue
the inner beast of reason
snatching the true words of my throat and mind,
releasing only the ideas of corrected thought
you are my censor and it is of you,
and only you,
that my life goes so swimmingly

poisoned serpent please,
let go my tongue.
let my words flood from my mouth
and run over the many things they falsify in this world,
i seek to make things real
so let me show you,
that i can make these things okay.
