Poisoned Words Poem by Loren Angela Parkes

Poisoned Words

The words manifest within her brain,
One by one,
Day by day,
They slowly devour her self esteem within her,

And as each word devours her self esteem it turns it to poison,

The type of poison that you cannot see,
The type of poison that makes her sick,
Too sick to see that's its damaging her true beauty that's HER body HER mind,
The type of damage that's hard to recover from,
And as it leaves a trail of unhealed scars,

The words in her mind play on a loop,
One by one,
Day by day,
Her own mind has become her prison,
A prison that she doesn't belong in and cannot escape.
