Policy Poem by Edwin Hopper

Policy

Of course we know it's all idiocy.
It harms a lot of people, like you.
Thing is, we must do this. It's policy.

I'd love to help, but I'm nobody.
No bosses care about my view.
Of course we know it's all idiocy.

we often discuss it in committee,
and always recommend for review.
Thing is, we must do this. It's policy,

set so long ago we can't disagree,
or know why, we started what we do.
Of course we know it's all idiocy.

If someone had the authority,
there are loads of wrongs we'd undo.
Thing is, we must do this. It's policy.

It's mad. We long to do things properly,
but all the time we repeat on cue,
of course we know it's all idiocy.
Thing is, we must do this. It's policy
