Poor Alison Poem by Francis Duggan

Poor Alison

Do not tell me that life it is always fair
Poor Alison battling her ghosts of despair
In a psychiatric hospital recovering from a nervous breakdown
A poor homeless woman far from her Hometown.

In a psychiatric hospital in her cocoon of stress
So sorry for her as her life is in a mess
A beautiful person so generous and kind
The hardships she has known has taken toll of her mind.

Though sympathy from me they never do gain
Some with little cause to they like to complain
Their stories of their so called suffering I'd prefer not to hear
But for Alison my heart sheds a silent tear.

A friend of her's to me the sad story did tell
Poor Alison is in hospital not feeling well
The truth of the matter again brought home to me
How hard and how sad life for some seems to be.
