Possessed Poem by Randy McClave

Possessed

I talked to my priest during confession
As I believed I was involved in a possession,
I told him I kept hearing a sinister voice
Always commanding me not to obey my choice.
The voice spoke to me every day and night
It continually gave me fright,
It was hard for me to close my eyes to sleep
Many days and nights I just wanted to weep.
When I went to bed at night I was always cold
Still by that voice I was commanded and told,
I told the priest I didn't know what else to do
The priests help is all that I knew.
The voice told me to tell rumors and many lies
Especially that I was gifted and I was a great prize,
And that I loved the clothes that I wear
When at me other people looked and stare.
The voice then told me what to always say
Almost every night and every day,
I believed that my very soul no longer belonged to me
The voice even told me what to eat and what to see.
Finally I asked the priest was I possessed
Unto the priest I asked as I confessed,
With a tear and a sad voice the priest tarried
Then he said to me, 'No my son you are married'.
