Yester-night I prayed for you
I started at eleven fifty-eight
It wasn't something I had planned to do
It was something I felt you could relate
The prayer was short
But plentiful
Words I did not jot
But meaningful
The words came out just like that
I don't think they came from the mind
I'm sure they flowed from the heart
Because the Words were not hard to find
Among the few things I said
I prayed that you will be blessed
And also find what you desire most
According to the will of the Lord of Host
I prayed for your going out and your coming in
I prayed you find your purpose and joy within
I prayed that this year will begin
All the wonderful things your mind has seen
I also prayed for long life
Along with abundant grace
I ended at twelve-five
And wiped off small sweat from my face
