I Am Frank Poem by Benjamin Debrah

I Am Frank

At the ceremony, they gave me wine
They also gave me water
They drew the line
That I may not falter

My father gave me this name
Immediately I came
My father told me to remain the same
So if I do not change, I am not to blame

I am Frank
I never prank
My yes is yes, even when I am drunk
My no is no, even when I am blank

I carry out my task
From dawn to dusk
I do not wait to be asked
I hate disguise: I do not wear mask

Some people think I am hideous
Other people say I am dangerous
In the long run, they admit I am gracious
Father always says I am a genius

I have passed the test
From one generation to the next
My adversary even admires with great respect
The way I take blame onto my chest

Religion says I am close to the light
I support what is right
I do my job with all my might
My presence sends my adversary to flight

I have really lived up to my name
I have received commendations from east to west
I have never treated my job as a game
So they see me as one of the best
