Prayers To The Soul Poem by Rik Bertrand

Prayers To The Soul

Some say a prayer is an earnest and urgent request,
An act of communicating with a deity, or lord at best.
I think that all need to know that prayer is not for action,
Although it is something that we wish and hope for to our satisfaction.

Your essence lies within and is most commonly known as your soul,
It is of course your mind and heart that has utter and complete control.
Your Prayers are a state of mind that flow through your being,
They are not for any outside entity; they are not for the all-seeing.

Pray my friend and understand that it is you that answers the call,
It is you that decides the right and wrong; to stand tall or to fall.
Do not judge yourself too harshly for thinking others will answer your prayers,
And do not judge your God, for he truly and honestly cares.

Know that Prayers are just a state of mind that task our inner soul,
They sometimes tax our heart and mind, and that can take a toll.
Honor yourself and know your limits, please read between the lines,
Mind your prayers, mind your life, and be careful of these bitter times.

REB (AUGUST 2012) Because someone told me prayers are a state of mind)
