Pre-Dawn Poem by Ramesh Iyengar

Pre-Dawn

Early morning is not 6-00 AM.
I know when God is awake.
God wakes up at 4-30 AM.
Believe me, He comes there in the eastern horizon,
where the sky above is poured with faint blue colour .
where the moon is yet a shining silver plate, bright,
shedding milk on dark land,
when little insects make weeeeeeeeeennn sound filling all the air,
when cuckoo birds leave their beds,
when saints get up to chant the Lord's name,
do sincere they say their prayers,
when cows shed blessed milk.
Ever did you listen to sparrows too early ? ? ......

Absolutely agree with you..4.00 am is considered the holy hour.. for deep meditation, prayer, God's hour, pure oxygenated atmosphere and so on.. I am on the lookout for sparrows these days, the rarer love birds are more seen than the sparrows these days.. and definitely not at 4.30am
