Precious Eyes Poem by Faith Elizabeth Brigham

Precious Eyes

they look like
they're flirting
(it isn't right)
but then i
have no claims
on the man

their laughter
innocent or not
discourages me
forcing me to feel
i n s i g n i f i c a n t

perhaps, i protest
too much
but darn it all
those precious eyes
of his did court me
for a while

I especially like the last stanza; of course, that one depends on what you've set up previously. Nice air of mystery, you give us only the essential, that's just right.
