Pretending Poem by Persephone Springs

Pretending

I know that I'm not supposed to cry over a boy
I know that I should be independent
But my train-wreck of an ego was depending on you
I have never opened myself up to anyone because it's easier
Easier not to have to take back all the things I never said
So I will pretend
Pretend I don't care
Pretend that you don't make me feel different
Pretend that because of you, I will never open again
Pretend that I don't have feelings

OH but Prince charming will soon be on his way, when he arrives, your closed heart he'll slay! Get ready to enjoy that bliss! Much, much more than just a kiss
