Pretty Flowers Poem by Marilyn Lott

Pretty Flowers

Pretty flowers are such a delight
To see in spring and summer too
So delicate their shapely blossoms
Landscape seems so fresh and new

After the dark dreary winter
They give us such a lift
The fragrance of their pedals
Are a dreamy welcoming gift

All our pleasure senses
Turn on to the best of reasons
For nothing captures our attention
Like this longed-for aromatic season

The colors are of the rainbow
The blue sky up above
The green of many pleasing hues
Seem to adorn the trees with love

Reds, pinks and also yellows
Come in so many different styles
I shall sit and enjoy them
On a park bench for awhile

Alyssum white or lavender
Fill in around larger flowers
Forget-me-knots are charming
Gaze up at the noonday showers

And you know, even the scotch broom
Seem to take a stance
I love the yellow along the roadside
Please be sure to give them a glance

I know you’ll enjoy the season
And when we have unwelcome showers
Remember that they bring to us
So many pretty flowers!
