Princess Shabbat - Revealed Poem by Lewis Eron

Princess Shabbat - Revealed

Have I now come to the point of life when I can see
The Shabbat princess revealed as a centerfold?
The girl next door, air-brushed, naked but not cold,
Dressed, so-to-speak, in a loose and flimsy
Schmata, still smiling, a shared spiritual fantasy,
And two loafs of bread and a bottle of not too old
Wine, a Sufi’s paradise as well, as I have been told.
This is what comes from reading Kabbalah literally:
Blissful visions, imagined love exceeds the ecstasy
Of real passion and candle light, Shabbat’s two fold
Commandment, real creation recalled in the cup I hold,
Full of wine, revealing truth, and drowning tragedy?
My princess, my bride, remove my troubles, bless my woes
For shrouds have no pockets, and souls do not wear clothes.
