Priorities Poem by Laurence Overmire

Priorities

What do you care about?
Have you asked yourself the question?

What do you care about?
I mean, really.

A hell of a lot of things are going wrong in this world.
Hell of a lot of things we could do better.

You know what they are.
Do you care?

Or do you just want to sit back and
Watch television?

Let the world go to hell, you say?
Is that it?

Fair enough.
Who am I to say? I'm just a poet.

But I just wanted to make sure
You asked yourself the question.

Because the world is dependent
One way or another

On the sincerity of your answer.
