Every day I searched for a way out
I never stopped hitting those white metal columns
And I always lost a feather or two that broke on the hardness of those imaginary walls
But he, after leaving some water and feed in the cage, forgot to close the door tightly
He moved away...
I threw my whole weight on the door and gathered what was left of my strength to flap and flew towards the window
As I headed towards it, I heard the chirping and beautiful songs coming from there
And a breeze of air caressed me and combed my feathers that the cage bars had messed with for long ages
At that moment.. he was about to catch me
I had barely folded my wing to stand at the edge of the window
Until his hand gripped me like a rusty pliers
I kicked the edge that I stood on for two seconds of time
And clapped my wings in panic and longing to embrace the branches again
And two long feathers from my tail were left between his fingers
......It doesn't matter, prettier feathers will grow instead
That's how I sang as I soared towards that tree that I always cried in the cage while listening to the rustle of its leaves
I said to myself as I moved away a little
That one who was my captor might chase me as long as I was close to him
As I passed by those branches, I counted the dew drops on the dangling leaves with joy
And my wings touched the leaves with ecstasy until their tips got wet
And the drops slid from the feathers shining and cheerful and evaporated in the air
On the way to a distant palm tree there, a small butterfly was racing me
I didn't understand her language but she must have been singing a song about freedom
The palm tree approached and I breathed deeply, almost not missing a passing breeze and inhaling it
My eyes remained open
They swallowed everything that fell on them by light and what hid under shadows
But a flock of birds passed trembling in front of me and shouted at me to escape
I......
I wanted to rest at that big palm tree
My wings were tired from flying for I hadn't flown for a long time
I had barely clamped my toes on that green frond hanging down towards the shore
Until I felt a slap that swept me and the place away
And a stab that tore my guts and a savage claw that dragged me away
As if the weight of a mountain had fallen on my thin body
I saw nothing but that palm tree turning away to a deep world
And the wings of that hawk causing whirlwinds
Oh God! !
I don't know how I could see his claws digging into my body and breaking my ribs apart
I even heard their sharpness crushing my flesh and bones
My eyes closed and opened and didn't catch any images
Everything turned into fog
And I saw my feathers falling twisted by the winds and scattered there
Followed by dark red drops
The sounds around me faded away and were muted after all that noise
.............
And suddenly.. I heard chirping coming from another place.. maybe calling me
I pulled my left wing from his grip and the other one had fallen, and went soaring away towards the blue sky
And sang despite hoarseness in my voice without fear. Without pain
Now I have a thousand wings
I soar high and there is nothing but my dream and I had hidden it under the feathers.. since a long time ago
