A promise was made
to live and let go
It's one of the hardest things
Anybody could ever do
Because honestly
We never really let go
Time can't change one's heart
Nor can a promise
A promise is a verbal lie
Nothing is an assurance
Unless someone will die
When it comes to matters
of the heart
We remember our first
We remember our last
We promise to love
That's another promise, that doesn't last
Certain words are meant to fool us
A promise is always broken
and never meant to rule us.
