Promise Of The World Poem by Casey Jarrell

Promise Of The World

Rating: 5.0

My tears fall as I smile
while my joy hides in my heart.
Somewhere inside of me
lies a promise of the world.

Even though I am alone now,
what will my life bring to me?
Like the gentle touch of your hand,
all our worries fade away.

My memories of you
will forever be in me.
You are the gentle breeze that embraces me.

We leave hand in hand
in the middle of the day.
While the sun shines through the trees, our promise never ends.

Even though I am alone now,
tomorrow is limitless.
You have taught me the kindness that lights up the dark.

My memories of you will live forever more.
You're the birds flying high in the sky,
and the flower in our home.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is my own version of Promise of the World from Howl's Moving Castle. I wrote this because my great grandmother isn't doing so hot, I figured I could do her a favor and write a song in memory of her she passes away and maybe me and a few family members can sing this song at her funeral.

It's a great idea to do a song, it's something you will always have with you to go with the memories. A great poem
